Ranbir Kapoor is riding high after his recently released film, 'Barfi' made it to the 100 crore club and got selected as India's official entry for the Academy Awards. The actor turns 30 today.

Directed by Anurag Basu, Ranbir's acting in 'Barfi' is highly appreciated by both critics and his fans.

Ranbir, who has made a mark in Bollywood with his acting talent, belongs to the film industry's most respectable family, 'The Kapoor' family and hence, acting is there in his blood. He is the son of actor Rishi Kapoor and Neetu Singh and grandson of superstar Raj Kapoor. Ranbir also has an elder sister Riddhima, who got married to Delhi based garment exporter Bharat Sahni in 2006.

After completing his schooling from Bombay Scottish School in Mahim, Mumbai, Ranbir went on to learn method acting at The Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute in New York and before stepping into the acting shoes, he assisted filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali during the making of 2005 hit film, 'Black' starring Rani Mukherjee and Amitabh Bachchan in the lead roles.

Ranbir then made his acting debut with Sanjay Leela Bhansali's 'Saawariya' in 2007, opposite Sonam Kapoor. The film failed at the box office but this didn't stop Ranbir in his journey.

The actor then starred in hit films like 'Wake Up Sid' opposite Konkana Sen and 'Ajab Prem Ki Ghazad Kahani' opposite Katrina Kaif. Ranbir's acting talent was appreciated and both the films set the cash registers ringing at the box office. 'Ajab Prem..' even got Ranbir his first award he was badly waiting for - Filmfare Critics Award for Best Performance.

Then in 2010, Ranbir worked in hit multi-starrer, 'Raajneeti', while his acting in 'Anjaana Anjaani' opposite Priyanka Chopra, was not appreciated much.

Ranbir is currently shooting for 'Yeh Jawani Hai Deewai', opposite Deepika Padukone, which will release in January next year.

Ranbir has always gained lime-light wherever he goes. Sometimes thanks to his acting skills and sometimes his playboy image and alleged link-ups with co-stars like Sonam Kapoor, Deepika Padukone, Katrina Kaif, Nargid Fakhri and Kingfisher calendar girl, Angela Jonsson.

We wish Ranbir a very Happy Birthday and a successful year ahead. (Written by Lovely Mehrotra)
