Akshay Kumar to inaugurate IFFI in Goa
Singing sensation Kailash Kher and choreographer Saroj Khan will add glitter to the opening ceremony of the 43rd International Film Festival of India (IFFI) to be inaugurated by Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar on November 20 in Goa.
In a video uploaded by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting on Youtube, the singer shared his excitement at the prospect of performing at the opening night of the gala event.
"This time I've been fortunate to have been made a part of this grand event. This time we will sing, but we will also dance and jump as it is the hundred years of Indian cinema that we are celebrating. The mood is very festive," Kher said.
Kher also said that since the IFFI was being held at a time when the festivals of Diwali and Dussehra were also around, the mood was very festive.
Kher said that he would be performing a medley of songs which would be choreographed by veteran choreographer Saroj.
"I am looking forward to it," Kher said.
Officials of the ministry of Information and Broadcasting also said that a new annual award to commemorate the centenary of Indian cinema has also been instituted for the 43rd IFFI.
All films screened in the festival across its various sections will be eligible for the prize, officials said.
The Centenary Award would be given to a film that pushed the boundaries of cinema in terms of substance, form, technique or technology. PTI
