Ayaan, Amaan to bring out another album together
Sarod playing brothers Ayaan and Amaan Ali Khan are planning to bring out another music album following the success of their previous album on Sufi music.
Ayaan says their next album will be refreshingly different from the Sufi one and hopes it will be as popular as the previous one.
"Our last album 'Rang - Colors of Sufism' proved to be quite a hit. Now we wish to give something new, may be with a Persian flavour this time," Ayaan told PTI here.
The young sarod prodigy, said he considered it a blessing to grow under the tutelage of 'abba', Ustaad Amjad Ali Khan.
"He has been extremely flexible as far as our musical journeys are concerned. He has always been encouraging and open-minded," Ayaan said.
Father to recently-born twins, Ayaan says he will prefer not to thrust music upon his children when they grow up, but believes that the musical ambience in their home is such that it will automatically inspire "sur and taal".
He said since his mother hails from Assam, a lot of relatives come calling at their home at regular intervals.
"My mother is from Assam. We have lots of relatives from this part of the country, and as such we are served at get-togethers with endless Bengali delicacies like those cooked with posto (poppy seeds)," said Ayaan at Tanmoy Bose's signature restaurant Wasabee in the city.
Asked if he is open to Bollywood offers, Ayaan said, "Films are not beckoning me and music remains my top priority."
Besides music, Ayaan has also walked the ramp, bagged a style award and hosted television shows.
Asked if he would consider himself as an youth icon, Ayaan said, "Thank you. But I am focused on popularising Sarod and that seems to be happening." PTI
