Big B praises 'Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola'
Finally good news coming in for director Vishal Bhardwaj. His film 'Matru Ki Bijlaa Ka Mandola' which released on January 11, registered Rs 7.02 crore on its opening day, making it the highest ever opening for the director.
Vishal who experimented by making a political satire targetting land scam, was also the co-producer of the film.
It is also being said that 'Matru KI Bijlee..' which is being made in a budget of about Rs.33 crore, had much better opening than Vishal's previous film, 'Kaminey'.
The film earned rave reviews after its release and Pankaj Kapur, who played 'Harry Mandola' - a filthy rich, alcoholic builder, was highly praised for his performance.
Even megastar Amitabh Bachchan was very impressed with the film. He took to Twitter to express his feelings. He tweeted, "A land issue much like Singur, rich and poor divide, communism of takes, anti alcohol, love triangle (DDLJ style [Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge]), politics - all portrayed in a manner not unknown to us, yet unknown... a composite satire, if ever satires could be composite."
The film also features Anushka Sharma as 'Bijlee', who is a feminist and daughter of Mandola and Imran Khan as 'Matru'.
