Holi and Bollywood songs
By Abhishek Gupta
With mouth-watering Gujiyas all around and various colors to be tossed over each other, the Holi celebration is at its ullest. As DJ’s and dance groups are ready to rock all over, how could Bollywood be left behind. Without trademark numbers of Holi songs, the celebration seems just incomplete.
The Big B’s contribution to the Holi celebration is immense and just incomparable. The song “Rang Barse” by the legend gave all the more separate title to the festival. The song is recalled again and again at every season to just double the celebration of Holi.
The movie of the millenium “Sholay” too gave the nation the other melody to be hummed at this occasion. “Holi Ke Din” song is he tone of every festive observer.
As these weren’t enough to make the pleasure double, the Big B was back with a brand new Holi humming melody. The legend offered his vocal again for the festive song in the movie “Baghban”. “Holi khele Raghuveera” was yet another classic by Big B accompanied by singer Sukwinder Singh.
But the story doesn’t end up with Big B. The veteran singer Anu Malik too hummed one song in Amitabh Bachchan and Akshay Kumar starrer “Waqt”. “Do me a favour, let’s play Holi” also complemented the record of Holi songs.
As above songs have made a special place in the festive celebration of Holi, there are many others who are not behind in terming themselves among favourites. Among them, "Ang se ang lagana saja" from Darr, "aaye holi aaye re" from Kaamchor, "Aayee re aayee re holi" from Zakhmee, "Arre ja re hat natkhat" from Navrang, "Aaj na chodenge bas humjoli khelenge hum holi" from Kati Patang, "Tan rang lo ji aaj mann rang lo" from Kohinoor, "Rang di preet ne rang di" from Dhanwan, and "Koi bheega hai rang se" from Mumbai Se Aaya Mera Dost are few to name.
With hope for many more new songs to accompany the list in the coming years we wish everybody a very happy and colorful Holi.
