I like to wear many hats: Nandita Das

Mumbai:  She is one of the most formidable performers in India today but Nandita Das, who is equally busy campaigning for human rights projects and raising her child, says she likes to wear different hats at different times besides being an actress.     Das, who also turned director with Firaaq, is back to acting with three different projects Devashish Makhija's Oonga, Albert Pinto Ko Gussa Kyon Aata Hai and Spanish film Traces of Sandalwood.     Oonga is in the India Gold competition section at the ongoing Mumbai Film Festival while Albert Pinto is screening in the Mumbai Film Mart, which Das inaugurated yesterday. The film deals with the same subject that Naseerudin Shah starrer dealt with but has a different take.     "For me, acting is more of an interest than a career. I don't have a career in that sense. I wear different hats. For me, it is about what gives you joy in that moment. When I was making Firaaq, that was my priority and when my child was born he was my priority. Therefore, different times, different things have been my priority," Das told PTI.     "Also, I think they feed on each other. My human rights work has helped me understand my characters better and similarly my exposure to cinema and being an actor has given me a platform to talk about things that I am concerned about. Everything is interlinked. I am trying to live my life full," she added. PTI
