Kamal, Sridevi to star together after 30 yrs
New Delhi: Veteran actors Kamal Haasan and Sridevi will share the screen after a long gap of 30 years. Their last film together, Sadma (1983) was a hit at the box office. Industry sources say that Haasan will write the script for the film.
“Over the years, several filmmakers have wanted to cast them together. Unfortunately, it never happened. After Sridevi made her comeback in Gauri Shinde's English Vinglish, Haasan has now taken things into his own hands," said a source. Haasan confirmed the news and said, "Yes, I want to work with Sridevi. I am writing a script for her so that both of us can act in the film."
Apparently, the English Vinglish star is aware about Haasan's plans. One of her friends said, “She knows about this script. In fact when Haasan was in Mumbai recently, he informed Sridevi about it. She is looking forward to the film."
Haasan recently stormed the box office with his latest release, Vishwaroopam, a Rs 90 cr film which is said to have done a business of over Rs 120 cr in just four days. Earlier, there were reports that a two week ban on the film would cause a huge loss to the actor-producer.
Haasan also revealed that a sequel of Vishwaroopam is on cards and the film is expected to release this year. Speaking to reporters at a press meet, Haasan said that he would ensure that there are no delays in the release of the new film as he has been making preparations in right earnestness.
After a hiatus of 15 years, Sridevi recently made a comeback to the silver screen with English Vinglish, which was not only a box office success but also earned critical acclaim.
